The work we do together

A safe relationship where you can explore your thoughts and emotions with compassion.

01

Build awareness

Together we explore the underlying causes of the patterns that keep you stuck, and grow real emotional awareness.

02

Create safety

We build a sense of safety in your body and your world as the foundation to move toward healing.

03

Heal & move forward

From there, we develop healthier ways to navigate life, toward peace, clarity, and confidence.

A nonjudgmental, supportive presence

Have you noticed that your past tends to show up in ways you didn’t expect?

Maybe you’re turning to alcohol or substances more than you’d like, finding yourself easily frustrated by others, or stuck in the same relationship patterns no matter how hard you try to change. When life feels out of control, it can be hard to understand why you keep reacting, escaping, or shutting down, even when part of you knows something needs to change.

You might be:

  • Finding yourself in the same situations over and over, not knowing why
  • Feeling like life is happening to you rather than by you
  • Reaching for alcohol, substances, or other escapes to ease the pain
  • Noticing a shorter fuse than you’d like, or reactions that surprise even you
  • Living with a mind that won’t quiet down, always waiting for something to go wrong
  • You’re in the right place.

I’m Alyssa, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NYC. I provide trauma therapy for young adults who sense their past is running the show and who are ready to feel more like themselves. My practice is a welcoming and affirming space for people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

Our work together is collaborative, relational, and grounded in compassion (with a little humor along the way). Using approaches like EMDR, AEDP, and IFS, we’ll explore how your past is showing up in your present, build insight into your patterns, and create a sense of safety in your body and your world. From there, real healing becomes possible.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What services do you offer?

I offer virtual weekly individual therapy and EMDR therapy to residents of New York. I also provide monthly or bimonthly clinical supervision to mental health counselors in New York.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. I will submit claims on your behalf to your insurance, and depending on your out-of-network benefits you will receive a refund from your insurance company. Before starting our work together, I will do a complimentary benefits check so you have a clear idea of what your insurance will cover and what you can expect to pay. Many insurance companies will cover 60-70% of costs.

What are your scheduling policies?

I offer weekly and biweekly therapy, but recommend that we start with weekly therapy to fully assess needs and start building our therapeutic relationship. After some time together, we can reassess and see if biweekly therapy is a better fit for you.

There is also a 24-hour cancellation policy. This means all cancellations and reschedules must occur at least 24 hours ahead of our session in order to avoid a missed session fee.

What is IFS?

IFS, or Internal Family Systems, is an evidence-based therapy built on the idea that the mind is naturally made up of different “parts.” Some parts may protect you, others may carry pain from past experiences, and still others may show up in ways that feel confusing or hard to control. In our work together, we will get to know your parts with curiosity rather than judgment, understanding why they developed and what they have been trying to do for you. IFS helps you build a relationship with your parts and, in doing so, create more harmony and ease within your inner world.

What is AEDP?

AEDP, or Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, is a relationally focused, evidence-based therapy rooted in the belief that healing happens in the context of a safe, supportive relationship. In our work together, we will gently explore the defenses and patterns that may be keeping you stuck, while creating the conditions for real emotional transformation to happen within the session itself.  AEDP is experiential, meaning we work with what arises in the present moment. The goal is not only to reduce distress but to move toward greater confidence, clarity, and connection with yourself and others.
